Concern about arson attacks on workers supporting migrants

The Maltese Psychological Association would like to voice its concern about the recent arson attacks against people involved in supporting irregular immigrants. We believe that this violence represents the unwillingness of some individuals to move away from an insular island-fortress view of our society.

We appreciate that the influx of migrants might present political and economic difficulties. However we think that this social phenomenon presents a unique opportunity for our society to embrace an appreciation of people’s diversity, irrespective of their race, religious belief, gender or sexual orientation.
